Compassionate Cancer Care
Few words are as frightening as “cancer.“ If your cat or dog has received a cancer diagnosis, you are probably overwhelmed with heartache and questions about what comes next. Dr. Steve Newton is a caring, experienced veterinarian with a special place in his heart for cancer patients. He can answer all of your questions and review your pet’s treatment options with you.
Dr. Newton is experienced in the administration of chemotherapy and other protocols. We believe very strongly that any course of treatment should take into consideration your pet’s quality of life. We want your pet to be able to play, be comfortable, and fully enjoy eating their favorite treats. Cancer doesn’t have to define your pet or drastically alter its enjoyment of life.
Early warning signs of cancer are sometimes vague and can correspond to other conditions, so a prompt, accurate diagnosis is critical. Please call us if you spot any of the following symptoms:
- Abnormal swelling or a lump that changes in shape or size
- A sore that won’t heal
- Weight loss/loss of appetite
- Ravenous hunger
- Unexplained bleeding or discharge from any part of the body
- Unusual odor
- Difficulty eating, swallowing, breathing, urinating, or defecating
- Loss of energy
- Coughing
- Chronic lameness or stiffness
